Ge got his Bachelor of Engineering at Tongji University, China.Then he moved abroad to Switzerland for his master degree in Computational Biology and Bioinformatics at the Department of Computer Science, ETH Zurich. Under the co-supervision of Dr. Christophe Dessimoz and Dr. Manuel Gil, he finished the thesis “Pairwise Evolutionary Distance Estimation Under Alignment Uncertainty” in Computational Biochemistry Research Group. After the graduation, he became a programmer for the development and maintenance of in house next generation sequencing data analysis framework in Functional Genomics Centre Zurich.

Since April 2013, he has been a Scientific Programmer in Computational Regulatory Genomics Group at MRC CSC, where he is also doing his PhD. His PhD project focuses on the study of regulatory elements and regulatory territories with computational approaches.
